The Jacqueline Kennedy Cameo bracelet was originally made in Italy in the mid 1800's. The cameo bracelet found its way to an antique shop in Paris in early 1962. The bracelet was purchased by the French Minister of Culture, Andre Malraux. Jackie first met Mr. Malraux on her trip to Paris in June 1961, and it was Malraux who escorted Jackie in Paris to all the museums and cultual sites.
Malraux was extremely impressed with Jackie and offered to have the Mona Lisa lent to the USA for display, something that has never happened before or since. When Malraux delivered the Mona Lisa to Washington, he presented this bracelet to Jackie, officially as a gift from French President de Gaulle.
The original bracelet sold ath the Sotheby's auction for $45,875.00.
This cameo bracelet features genuine red jasper, tiger's eye and sodalite, classic simulated cameos, hand painted enameled flowers with 40 Swarovoski crystals. The bracelet is 7 inches long with a box and tongue clask and 1" extender.
